She said those who had indulged in this act had not done any good to the cause they claimed to pursue.
Kaur said she had taken up the matter with the Andhra Pradesh government and asked it to ensure the security of life and property and of religious places of the Sikh community.
She said she had been assured that the culprits will be punished for this act and it will be ensured that no such incident is repeated anywhere in the state.
"It is absolutely unbecoming of a true Indian to target the religious place of someone else to vent his or her own anger," she said.
An unruly mob had on Saturday indulged in vandalism in the town during the 48-hour Seemandhra bandh and pelted stones on the shrine in Vizianagaram town, damaging its window panes.
National Commission for Minorities and SGPC have also condemned the incident and demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government ensure safety and security of the people and religious places of the community.
