President's followers on Twitter reach one million mark

One million people across the globe are following the Twitter account of President of India, who has been vocal against growing incidents of intolerance and advocating for respecting dissent in the society.
'@RashtrapatiBhvn', the official Twitter handle of the President's House, was started on July one last year and the number of followers has crossed one million today.
Nearly 47,000 users of the social networking website started following the account in October month only, placing the Twitter handle of Rashtrapati Bhawan much ahead of other government Twitter accounts which have been in existence for a longer time.
'@PIB_India', Twitter handle for Press Information Bureau, has 6.46 lakh followers despite joining the site in December, 2010, '@IndianDiplomacy' account which is being run by Ministry of External Affairs and started in July 2010 has 4.53 lakh followers, I&B Ministry's '@MIB_India' has gained 4.16 lakh followers since it was started in November, 2012.
According to the analysis of last 28 days, the account shows that it has earned 5.6 million impressions (number of times users saw the tweets).
