The Jangipur MP met Prasad at the Birsa Munda Central Jail yesterday.
As the meeting created flutters, a BJP leader Siddharthnath Singh wondered in Delhi whether it was Congress way of telling Lalu that it would back him in his problems and look for an alliance in Lok Sabha elections.
Asked about his meeting, Abhijit Mukherjee said "it's a personal meeting and let it be personal".
A CBI court had on September 30 awarded prison sentences to Prasad and 44 others for fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 37.7 crore from the Chaibasa treasury when he was at the helm of affairs in Bihar in the 1990s.
