'President's Tat-Rakshak Medal' to IG Kuldeep Singh Sheoran

The prestigious 'President's Tat-Rakshak Medal' award will be conferred on the North-West Region Commander of the Indian Coast Gard Inspector General Kuldip Singh Sheoran by President Pranab Mukherjee for his distinguished service.
"Inspector General (IG) Kuldip Singh Sheoran, Commander Coast Guard Region (North-West), will be given the prestigious 'President's Tat-Rakshak Medal' on 15 August, 2014 by the President of India for distinguished service in the Indian Coast Guard," an official release issued by the North-West Region of the Indian Coast Guard in Gandhinagar said here today.
IG Sheoran took over the reins of the region on February 2, 2013. He joined the Indian Coast Guard in 1984 and served in various sea and shore appointments with distinction, the release said.
Flag officer Sheoran is a recipient of the 'Tat-Rakshak Medal' for meritorious service in the Indian Coast Guard and a commendation by the Director General of Indian Coast Guard for various achievements, the release said.
The North-West Region Commander of the Indian Coast Guard IG Sheoran is also a recipient of the 'Central Board of Excise and Customs Commendation' by the Union Finance Minister for anti-smuggling operations related to gold and silver, it said.
IG Sheoran has also served in various capacities at sea and ashore, which includes command of Coast Guard ships and stations, in addition to appointments as the Chief of Staff at Andaman and Nicobar, Chief of Staff Coast Guard Region (West) as well as Principal Director (Logistics) New Delhi, it said.
