President to visit Shimla on May 23

President Pranab Mukherjee will address a special session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly to mark its golden jubilee, on May 24.
The President will also deliver the convocation address at the Himachal Pradesh University and inaugurate the Tagore Centre for Study of Culture and Civilisation at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) on the same day.
Mukherjee will arrive here on May 23 and leave next day after attending three public functions.
He will be the second President to address the Himachal Pradesh Assembly after A P J Abdul Kalam, who was the first President to do so on December 23, 2004.

"I have received a communication from Rashtrapati Bhawan that the President has accepted our invitation," Speaker B B L Butail said in the House today.
Mukherjee is also scheduled to deliver the first Rabindranath Tagore memorial lecture in the IIAS.
