A Rashtrapati Bhavan official said the President has also told the delegation that she would take up the matter with the government.
"This is an issue which needs sympathetic consideration," Patil was quoted as saying by Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson Archana Datta.
According to a release by the Parishad, parliamentarians including Supriya Sule, Sanjeev Naik and Vandana Chavan of the Nationalist Congress Party and Sanjay Nirupam of the Congress said they would support the group's demand inside and outside the Parliament.
