Speaking on the occasion, the president appreciated the Satya Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, for establishing schools in rural areas to cater to educational needs of local children.
Mukherjee said children eagerly want to get admission in these schools to receive quality education. There are Satya Bharti schools across the country.
The Satya Bharti School Programme was started in 2009 in nine villages of Murshidabad district. Over the past eight years, the schools have been providing quality education to more than 1,900 students in the state, 57 per cent of them being girls.
"With this new school at Kanidighi, we aim to continue delivering on our promise of quality education to every underprivileged child in the school's vicinity. The new school marks the beginning of a new chapter for us and further strengthens our resolve to continue our journey in the state," said Rakesh Bharti Mittal, co-chairman of the foundation.
Abhijit Mukherjee, Lok Sabha MP from Jangipur, Subrata Saha, MLA, Sagardighi and Vijay Chadda, CEO, Bharti Foundation were also present on the occasion.
