"The BJP central leadership has invited us to Guwahati to convey our decision on supporting NDA's presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind. Five MLAs will go to Guwahati from here. Another MLA Dilip Sarkar, who is in Delhi for treatment too will come there. We will together inform him about our decision to support him," Burman told reporters here.
On July 3, Burman had said, "We cannot vote for a candidate who is being supported by the CPI(M). The CPI(M) is our main enemy and we are fighting against its misrule for long. The TMC here has decided not to vote for someone who is being supported by CPI(M)."
Burman had said BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav and senior Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the convener of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), have requested TMC MLAs of Tripura to vote for NDA's presidential pick.
TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee has said the party has no relation with the TMC leaders in Tripura.
