The conference, to be attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Ministers in the Human Resource Development department, will see thirty NIT directors participating in the deliberations on November 7-8.
The President is a Visitor to these institutes spread across the country.
"The agenda of the conference includes steps required to improve the quality of technical education and faculty development in NITs to bring it on par with the top technical institutions of the world and steps needed to create inter-linkages of NITs with the industry.
The UGC will also be represented in this conference by its Chairman, the statement said.
