Price rise major factor behind defeat in Bihar polls: BJP MP

Alleges that the PM never took the party MPs into confidence before doing any work

In an embarrassment to the NDA government at the Centre on the eve of the Winter Session of the Parliament, a BJP MP today said that price rise was a "major" factor behind his party's defeat in the recent Bihar Assembly elections.

"Because of inflation, we lost Bihar polls. Price rise became a major poll issue," Harinarain Rajbhar, an MP from Ghosi said.

He maintained that in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, people voted for the party and not for Prime Minister Narendra Modi while alleging the PM never took the party MPs into confidence before doing any work.



"Modi never consults us ahead of any major work. He alone can explain this," Rajbhar said when asked about inflation and other issues.

Referring to Modi's frequent foreign visits, he in a lighter vein said, the PM has gone to bring back the glittering Kohinoor, which was looted from India.
