Prices of select spices gain on fresh buying

Prices of jeera and turmeric rose by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale kirana market today on increased buying by stockists against restricted supplies from producing belts.
Traders said buying by stockists against restricted supplies from producing belts mainly led to the rise in prices of select spices.
In the national capital, Jeera common and best quality rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 16,200-16,700 and Rs 19,700-20,200 per quintal, respectively.
Turmeric edged up by a similar margin to Rs 8,900-12,700 per quintal.
Cardamom small varieties like chitridar,colour robin, bold and extra bold were also up by Rs 5 each to Rs 775-835, Rs 775-795, Rs 785-805 and Rs 915-965 per kg, respectively.
Makhana was also seen in some demand and edged up by a similar margin to Rs 380-480 per kg.

Ajwain (per kg) 150-185, black pepper (per kg) 560-740, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,690-1,700 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,800-1,900.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 775-835, cardamom (colour robin) 775-795, cardamom bold 785-805, cardamom extra (bold) 915-965 and cloves 710-830.
