Principal Secretary Sanjay Pratap Singh was today suspended by the Delhi government, a day after CBI arrested him for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the government will not spare anyone found to be involved in corruption.
Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of SC, ST and Minorities, and his personal assistant, were arrested by CBI last night after the complainant approached Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's office.
"The government has suspended Sanjay Pratap Singh, an IAS officer of 1984 batch of AGMUT cadre, and surrendered his service to MHA, saying that we don't require Singh's services anymore," according to a Delhi government official.
CBI arrested the IAS officer for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh from the owner of a firm that supplies security guards and other manpower for clearing pending bills.
CBI sleuths had laid a trap after which Singh and his personal assistant were arrested.

The DySP in her FIR had alleged that Anand had sexually exploited her on the pretext of marrying her.
She alleged that two days after joining as Kaimur SP in July 2014, Anand had proposed to her on Facebook and WhatsApp.
In the following month, when their marriage looked certain, they established intimate relations and stayed at each other's place, she said, adding that when her parents requested Anand to fix the wedding date, he refused to marry her on the ground that their horoscopes did not match.
Police sources said the IPS officer did not enjoy any protection from arrest order and will be treated like any other civilian in a criminal case.
