PRISM president Vanlalruata said that the bill, as introduced in Parliament by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, if passed, would be "dangerous" for small states like Mizoram and could "tilt the demographic balance".
"The proposed amendment provides that Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Parsis and Buddhist, who entered India from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan, and who stayed in the country for six years could become citizens of India," Vanlalruata said.
He urged the state government and all the political parties to oppose the proposed amendment bill.
