Private cos to bid for Rs 4k transmission projects next week

L&T, Sterlite Grid and Essel, among others are likely to submit financial bids for four power transmission projects worth Rs 4,000 crore next week.
"The financial bids or request for proposal (RFP) will be submitted for the four power transmission projects worth Rs 4,058 crore which are part of the government's plan to auction transmission projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore through competitive bidding process," a source said.
The bids are expected for the projects, Sipat, Chhattisgarh (A), Chhattisgarh (B) and Maheswaram.
The Sipat power transmission project is worth Rs 863 crore for which the technically qualified bidder are PGCIL, L&T, Essel, Sterlite Grid (SGL), Jindal Power (JPL), Adani Power, Isolux, Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited (KPTL). These players will submit bids on June 30.
The Chhattisgarh (A) power transmission project is worth Rs 823 crore for which qualified bidders are PGCIL, L&T, Essel, SGL, Adani Power and KPTL. The bids for this project will be submitted on June 30.
The Chhattisgarh (B) power transmission project is worth Rs 1,976 crore for which qualified bidders are PGCIL, L&T, Essel, SGL , JPL, Adani Power, Isolux and KPTL. The bids too will be submitted on June 30.

The Maheshwaram project is worth Rs 396 crore for which qualified bidders are PGCIL, Essel, SGL, KPTL, CLP Power and Consortium of Tata and Tata Realty. The bids will be submitted on July 3.
The tenders of Sipat, Chhattisgarh (A) and Chhattisgarh (B) projects are being handled by the state-run Power Finance Corporation while the Maheshwaram project is being handled by state-run Rural Electrification Corporation.
Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) with over 95 per cent market share is a monopoly, an executive of a private power company said.
He further said PGCIL has been aggressively bidding for the transmission projects and quoted 25-30 per cent lower price.
