A Shiv Sena legislator today moved a breach of privilege notice against Mumbai University Vice Chancellor Rajan Welukar, accusing him of misleading the state Assembly over work involving Thane sub-centre of the varsity.
Submitting the privilege notice in the Assembly, under rule 273 of the House, Sena MLA Rajan Vichare also alleged that there has also been mismanagement in the university administration in Welukar's regime.
A sub-centre of the university for Thane was sanctioned in 2007 and work was expected to be completed in five years, Vichare said.
In the budget session of state legislature earlier this year, Velukar informed the House that almost 40 per cent of the work had been completed whereas there is no construction on the site, the Sena MLA added.
Several cattle sheds having cows and buffaloes have come up on the encroachments made on the project site, Vichare said.
