Named "CWE - The Great Khali returns" the event will be held at two newly built stadiums of Uttarakhand in Haldwani and Dehradun on February 24 and 28, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said announcing the dates for the event being organised jointly by Khali's CWE Academy and Uttarakhand Chief Minister's youth outreach programme named CM4Youth.
Khali, who was also present at the press conference to announce the dates for the championship, added to the excitement by giving an open invitation to international fighters to participate in the event.
The two stadiums where the bouts will be held have been built in view of the 2018 National Games and have a capacity to accommodate over 15000 spectators each.
"Khali's personal story, the story of his rise from humble roots to a position of eminence in the world of wrestling is in itself very inspiring.
"He will inspire the youth of the state to come forward and utilise this platform to display their skills and make it big in th world of wrestling," Rawat said.
Khali said he had seen many ups and downs in life before becoming famous and he had always dreamt of creating a platform to showcase the skills of talented young wrestlers.
