Probe ordered against top woman cop for not paying rent

A probe has been ordered against a female deputy superintendent of police (DSP) for allegedly refusing to pay house rent for nearly two years to her landlord in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district.
Rewti Tikam Patel, a native of Janjgir-Champa district complained against police officer Puja Agrawal for allegedly not paying house rent for about 22 months during her posting as Chandrapur Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) in 2012-13, Raigarh Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhagat said.
Additional Superintendent of Police Praphulla Thalur has been asked to investigate and submit a report within a month, the SP said.
As per the complaint, a 2005 batch DSP rank official, Puja was posted as Chandrapur SDOP at Dabhra headquarters (Janjgir-Champa) in 2012-13.
During this period, she rented the Patel's house from February 1, 2012 till November 11, 2013 due to non-availability of government accommodation, the SP said.
SDOP Puja Agarwal allegedly failed to pay her house rent even after repeated requests by the complainant, after which she complained to senior police officials, the SP said.
Following the Bilaspur IG's directives, ASP Thakur issued a show cause notice to Puja today seeking her to reply within two days, the SP said.
SDOP Puja refused to reply when she was asked to comment on the issue.
