The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a probe into the incident of alleged beating of three police followers by former SSP Moradabad Rajesh Modak at his residence, for keeping a Samajwadi Party leader waiting.
"A departmental inquiry has been ordered against Modak to ascertain the fact of the entire matter. The government has however not appointed an inquiry officer to probe the case", IG (Crime) Ashish Gupta told reporters here today.
Modak, who during his tenure as SSP Moradabad had allegedly beaten his followers with broom on September 21 for keeping Samajwadi Party leader S T Hasan waiting, a day after which he was suspended by the state government.
Taking note of the conduct of suspended IPS officer, Uttar Pradesh Governor B L Joshi had asked state government to take suitable action against the officer.
A letter in this regard was sent to Principal Secretary (Home) by Governor through his under secretary Madhubala Sehgal on October 4.
In their complaint to DIG Moradabad, the three police followers Guman Singh, Sunder Singh and Daya Kishan, had complained that the SSP had beaten them without any reason.
