Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today said investigation report in the alleged bribery scam involving Inspector General of Police Sunil Garg has been submitted to the Lokayukta.
"I have forwarded the report into the allegations of bribery involving Garg to the institution of Lokayukta, which is currently hearing the petition filed against him (Garg) by the complainant," Parsekar told reporters today without revealing the findings in the report.
Garg, who was transferred out of Goa last week, was embroiled in a major controversy after a businessman, Munnalal Halwai, accused the senior officer of accepting Rs five lakh bribe to file an FIR in the case filed by him against another businessman from Ponda town.
State Chief Secretary R K Srivastava had submitted the investigation report to the Chief Minister earlier this month.
Halwai had submitted the audio recording, in which Garg is purportedly confessing to accepting the bribe.
The complainant (Halwai), after filing a string of complaints with Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Chief Minister, had approached Lokayukta for justice.

Parsekar today said though Garg has been transferred out of Goa, he will have to face the probe.
When asked whether whether prima facie there was evidence against Garg, Parsekar maintained silence.
He refuted the charge that the state government was shielding Garg. "The matter (case) had not reached to a level that I should have ordered his suspension," the Chief Minister said.
