An investigation against an Indian Army Lieutenant General commanding the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in Syria has been sought by the Philippine military, which accused him of "endangering" the safety of its peacekeeping troops during a stand-off with rebels.
The General commanding a multi-national force in Golan Heights is said to have asked Filipino soldiers to lay down their arms and show white flags to rebels to ensure safety of 44 Fijian peacekeepers taken hostage by them.
The incident reportedly happened last week.
Philippine Army has asked the international agency to launch a probe against him.
Philippine soldiers reportedly did not obey the General's orders and the stand-off persisted for several hours.
An Indian Army official said the General is working under the command of the United Nations and a decision about allegations against him will only come from the world body.
