Probe teams would visit Andhra Pradesh to investigate complaints lodged by a group of students belonging to Jharkhand that a nursing institute allegedly demanded more money from them ten months into the course and were subjected to alleged misbehaviour.
The police will make a thorough probe into the allegations, an official release said quoting Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty.
"Students from Jharkhand going to other states for higher or skill development education should be treated well," Chakraborty said.
A high-level meeting chaired by the chief secretary was convened to discuss the case which came to light after some students who had gone for training to a nursing institute at Nellore in Andhra complained that they had been "ill-treated".
According to the complaint lodged by the girls with the Jharkhand Women's Commission, the institute had allegedly said the scholarship the students were getting from Jharkhand government was sufficient for their nursing training, but later the authorities allegedly demanded more money and on protest were allegedly subjected to misbehaviour.
Besides police, a team comprising Health and Social Welfare department officials would also investigate the case, the release said quoting Inspector General of Police Sampat Meena.

Giving option to the girls that they could return home or go back to complete their training, the chief secretary suggested them those who got admission in 2013 should go back and complete the course to avoid loss of one year as during mid-semester they would not get admission anywhere.
Chakraborty assured the students that the government would ensure security and assistance if they went back.
He also asked the guardians to send their wards only after ascertaining credibility of institutions.
Additional Director General of Police S N Pradhan said if the institute was found guilty then the government of Andhra Pradesh would be approached to take action against the authorities of the institute.
