Proclaimed offender, another held for duping job seekers

Tilak Raj Sharma, the alleged king pin, and Naresh Kumar were arrested separately by police after one Sher Singh filed a complaint that he was cheated by Kumar and his team despite paying money to get a job abroad.

In his complaint, Singh alleged that Naresh took Rs 25,000 and his original passport and asked him to report at a hotel in Mumbai on September four to board his flight three days later.

Singh, however, did not get his passport and other details till September seven after which he filed a complaint with the police.

After a month-long man hunt, police arrested Naresh Kumar and during interrogation, he disclosed that he along with his associates namely Arun Kumar, Babita, Pinki Chauhan, Harbhajan and others planned to make huge sums of money by cheating unemployed persons.

"They had lured unemployed persons for employment in foreign countries and cheated them of Rs 25,000 to Rs 75,000 on the pretext of expenses for air tickets and visa. The bank accounts of alleged persons including that of Naresh Kumar were checked and it was found that transactions worth more than Rs 3 crore has taken place," a senior police official said.

Tilak Raj Sharma was arrested on the inputs provided by Naresh Kumar who disclosed that he opened offices to send people abroad after he incurred loses in his business.

"He has been involved in more than 120 cases and found proclaimed offender in as many as 60 cases," the official said.

A woman, Babita Sharma, has been granted protection from arrest by the Delhi High Court, while other members Pinki Chauhan and Harbhajan are at large.
