West Kameng Deputy Commissioner (DC) today imposed prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC in the district until further orders, apprehending breach of peace and tranquillity following an agitation launched by Students United Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA).
The SUMAA has launched an agitation against the Tibetan refugees settled in the district.
The prohibitory order was issued to restrict movement of people in groups of more than four in and around all market areas, refugee settlement areas and government establishments in the district, officials said.
Further, all wine shops of Bomdila, Tenga and Rupa markets have been shut down, besides prohibiting carrying and entry of lethal weapons and arms within the district, an official release informed here.
The SUMAA along with its federal units of the district on July 13 last staged a protest rally at Bomdila, the headquarters town against the Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy 2014 and illegal Tibetan settlements in the district.
The union had also in July 9 this year submitted a memorandum to the DC demanding immediate roll-back of Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy-2014, besides demanding him to direct the Tibetan committee to furnish the family tree cum records of all Tibetan refugees settled in Arunachal Pradesh.
