Section 144 clamped in Muzaffarnagar city ahead of upcoming festivals

Orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), prohibiting the assembly of more than four persons at public places have been promulgated in Muzaffarnagar city to ensure law and order in view of upcoming festivals, officials said Sunday.

The orders will be in force till December 21 in three police station areas -- Kotwali, New Mandi and Civil Line, city magistrate Atul Kumar said.
