Prohibitory orders in violence-hit parts of 3 districts of UP

Prohibitory orders were imposed today in parts of Kanpur, Ballia and Bahraich districts of Uttar Pradesh in the wake of communal violence and tensions there, officials said.
Sikandarpur township of Ballia district, which saw a communal clash two days back, witnessed fresh violence today with some mischievous elements targeting houses of a particular community and indulging in vandalism, according to district magistrate Surendra Vikram.
In view of the prevailing situation, section 144 of CrPC (which prohibits assembly of more than four persons at a particular place) was imposed in the township.
Four persons were arrested in connection with today's incident, the DM said.
On Saturday last, nearly half-a-dozen people were injured after members of two communities clashed over a petty dispute related to children in Sikandarpur area.
In Kanpur too, section 144 of CrPC was imposed in Kalyanpur and Juhi police station areas in view of communal violence and tension, according to district magistrate Surendra Singh.

A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident, the DM said.
Singh said the Muharram procession as well as the Durga idol immersion concluded last night itself under heavy police security.
Bahraich's Gullabir area has also been tense since yesterday after violence in which a police booth, an ATM and two vehicles were damaged by a mob.
Prohibitory orders were in force in the area, police said.
