The projects were approved at a meeting of the Empowered Committee on mega projects presided over by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here today, an official spokesman said.
He said that the committee had cleared the mega project - Multi Model Logistic Hub (MMLH) with an investment of Rs 487.38 crore to be set up by Punjab State Container and Warehousing Corporation Limited (CONWARE) in collaboration with the Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) in Ludhiana district.
The project will spread over an area of 150 acres and generate direct and indirect employment to 6,000 persons, he added.
The spokesman further added that the empowered committee also gave its nod for the setting up of a Cricket Stadium-cum-Sports complex with capacity for 40,000 spectators with an investment of Rs 221.50 crore in Mohali by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA).
This would be the second stadium to be set up by the PCA in Mohali district after the existing stadium in Phase nine of the township.
