Promote bamboo products, artisans within state: Chouhan

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that bamboo products and artisans should be market and promoted both within and outside the state.
The state Forest Minister, Gaursishankar Shejwar here yesterday presented artistic bamboo articles made in the state to the Chief Minister, who not only praised craftmanship but also pressed that the products should be marketed in the state, an official release said today.
The chief minister on the occasion informed that international home furnishing chain IKEA has demanded bamboo products from the state, while a US based Artisan Company will establish a Rs 700 crore factory in Jabalpur, it said.
Chouhan praising the quality of the bamboo products, said, "Such articles should get market in the state and country as that will generate employment opportunities to these craftspersons."
Madhya Pradesh under its 'Bamboo Mission' has started a scheme for ensuring maximum bamboo production in the state.
He also advised that Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC) can also make use of such useful bamboo products, release said.
The State's Bamboo Mission, Director AK Bhattacharya was also present on the occasion, it said.
