"The government is working toward renewal and cleanliness of the Valmiki townships and slums in the state," he said addressing members of Valmiki Samaj here.
Rawat said the government was working to provide occupants legal ownership under various schemes and in the next three years 20,000 more houses will be built in such townships.
He also laid the foundation stone of the Valmiki Park at Mallital here and visited Betalghat.
"Uttarakhand is the first state to provide pension to farmers," he claimed.
The government has also made necessary amendments to the Lokpal Bill and has sent it for the Governor's approval, Rawat said.
