The journalists were returning after covering the news of exchange of fire at Ambalappara between Naxals and police a couple of days ago.
Led by Tanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhakam general secretary K Ramakrishnan and MDMK secretary R R Mohan Kumar, the workers raised slogans against the "highhandedness" of police.
Meanwhile, the Coimbatore Press Club, in a letter to the Director General of Police, Kerala sought action against the police personnel for misbehaving with press persons.
Despite producing identity cards, the police chose to single out every media person in the name of questioning and chose to photograph individually, he said.

"This is just unheard of," he said.
This resulted in the journalists getting delayed for several hours, he said.
The club requested the official to intervene and initiate disciplinary action against the police persons.
