Some members of an NGO today held a protest outside a theatre here over Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's latest release, 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela', demanding a change in the film's title.
The protest occurred in front of Regal Cinema in central Delhi at around 4 P.M. With the demonstrators raising slogans against the movie.
"Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed that 'Ram-Leela' be removed from its title, but the film still released with its name unchanged.
"The protest was to register our anger over the film's title hurting religious sentiments," said Raj Kumar, a member of NGO Rashtravadi Shiv Sena, which led the demonstration.
The protest ended when police arrived on the scene and whisked away the demonstrators to the nearest police station.
MP High Court had yesterday asked that the words 'Ram- Leela' be removed from the film's title following a plea that its use had hurt religious sentiments.
Controversy over the film's title has seen the same being changed, first from 'Ramleela' to 'Ram-Leela', and then to 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela'.
Although no official statement was issued by Bhansali following the HC order, sources close to the development had yesterday told PTI in Mumbai that all court issues pertaining to the movie had been sorted and it would release with the title, 'Goliyon ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela'.
