Former Congress MLA Devender Yadav said thousands of residents living close to the garbage dump were suffering from various ailments due to air and water pollution caused by it.
"The site often catches fire and smoke emanated pollutes the air. It has also polluted the groundwater in the area resulting in diseases in the people living nearby," he said.
He also alleged that the natural water body at Bhalaswa has also been "heavily polluted" by the massive garbage dumped at the site.
The locals will continue their protest and hold demonstrations at offices of different authorities, including Delhi government, NDMC, Pollution Control Board and will resort to hunger strike if their demands are not met, he said.
