Around 50 demonstrators, led by All India Progressive Women's Association Secretary Kavita Krishnan, raised slogans against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, and staged a street-play against the incidents.
"The media and the government have to stop calling these unfortunate incidents merely as encounters. These innocent people were killed in a planned manner. We urge the governments of both the states to rehabilitate tribals of Tamil Nadu who have been a victim of such incidents," Krishnan said.
PUCL Delhi President ND Pancholi, who was also part of the demonstration, alleged "collusion" between politicians and smugglers and said the woodcutter victims were "innocent" unemployed men in search of jobs.
