Nearly 2,000 people today blocked the Jammu-Rajouri highway here after allegations that an ambulance carrying a critically-ill patient was stopped by some persons belonging to another community.
The protesters alleged that some people also misbehaved with the ambulance driver after stopping the vehicle from ferrying a critical patient to Jammu from Rajouri.
They shouted anti-government slogans and demanded registration of a case against the accused.
SP Rajouri M Haseeb "we are trying to resolve the issue".
Ravinder Raina, who is local MLA and senior BJP leader, said it is an attempt by some vested interests to disturb peace and trigger violence.
The people have filed a written complaint before the Station House officer (SHO) and demanded immediate action.
