Protesters stage rally to demand police official's transfer

A section of a community today staged a rally demanding transfer of a police official who they alleged had helped land mafia in grabbing a piece of land meant for building monuments in honour of the deceased members of their families.
The protesters bearing torches raised slogans against the police administration last evening and demanded restoration of the cenotaph on that very piece of land.
They threatened to continue their stir as long as the police official was not transferred.
Meanwhile, city Magistrate Vijay Kumar said ownership of the land is disputed as many parties have staked claim over it

He ordered that status quo be maintained over the issue.
