PSG staff donate Rs 1 crore, medicine, clothes, food packets

The faculty and staff members of PSG Institutions here have donated Rs one crore to the Chief Ministers Public Relief Fund to help the rain-affected victims of Tamil Nadu.
Besides, PSG Hospitals, run by PSG and Sons' Charities, has deputed 25 doctors and 15 paramedical staff to Chennai, carrying medicines worth Rs five lakhs for the medical relief in the flood-affected areas.
They will assist the health department of Government of Tamil Nadu medical team, a release today said.
PSG Charities has also arranged for distribution of 1,000 garments, 6,000 blankets and 6,000 new dhotis worth about Rs 25 lakhs to the people of Cuddalore district through Alumni Association of PSG Institutions.
A students team, lead by Professor Arasu of PSG Polytechnic College, left today with relief materials and basic medicines, it said.
PSG Arts College Alumni Team has already been distributing 5,000 packets of food per day in Chennai for the last few days.
All the Alumni Associations of PSG Institutions are working towards collecting materials for relief work along with the students and faculty and some professional associations also came forward in serving with PSG Institutions, it said.
