Accusing Puthiya Tamizhagam leader K Krishnaswamy of trying to create a rift between Dalits and other communities by opposing Tamil film "Komban", a petition has been filed in the Madras High Court Bench here seeking to implead in the former's plea against the movie and his arrest.
Petitioner S M A Gandhimathinathan, a member of Tuticorin District Consumer Forum and a leader of Devendrakula Vellalar community, a Dalit caste, sought to implead himself in the petition filed by Krishnasamy, MLA, to restrain the Censor Board from granting censor certificate for Komban.
The film, starring Karthik, was released last week after the court had on April 1 declined to stay its release without knowing its contents and adjourned the matter.
The court had said Krishnasamy or any other person could apprise the court of appropriate remedy provided the movie was found to be a problem in maintaining communal harmony.
Krishnasamy, a Dalit, has alleged that the film portrayed Dalits in bad light and it was not fit for release.
In his impleading petition, Gandhimathinathan alleged Krishnaswamy had lost the support among the Dalit people and hence was trying to get it back for the 2016 assembly elections by filing a case against the film.

In future, if there was any communal clash in the southern district, Krishnaswamy should be held solely responsible, the petitioner prayed.
