Public cautioned to avoid movement along Chenab

Jammu and Kashmir government today warned people to avoid movement along Chenab as the water level in the river will increase to 2 to 3 meters in view of periodical silt from reservoir of Dulhasti power station.
Chief Engineer (Civil) Kishtwar has intimated that for statutory periodical silt flushing from the reservoir of Dulhasti Power Station, the gates of the dam will be opened from 10 PM to 12 AM hours tonight due to which flow of water and level of Chenab river may increase two to three meters, an official spokesman said.
The people are advised to avoid the movement along the river bank during this period, he said.
Besides all the concerned offices of Police, Revenue and Rural Development Department have been directed to coordinate with each other and jointly monitor the situation along the banks of the river, he said.
