Public holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act for Pondy

Puducherry Administration has declared April 24, when Lok Sabha polls are being held in the Union Territory, a public holiday under the provisions of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
A release from the election authorities here said it would be a public holiday for all government offices, institutions, local bodies and commercial establishments in the Union Territory.
The release said it would also be a paid holiday for all workers engaged on daily wage basis by various departments in the Union Territory.
This is to enable the staff and workers to exercise their franchise at the poll slated for that day.
