:Charging the Congress government here with adopting a lopsided approach in handling law and order to gain political mileage, BJP today said it would urge the Centre to order a probe into recent incidents of attacks at a public meeting conducted by Hindu Munnani and a mosque.
BJP Puducherry President V Saminathan told reporters here today that the government was acting in a lopsided manner for garnering votes by 'pleasing' minorities.
"Narayanasamy, a non member of the Assembly, is going to contest a by-electionsoon and hence is trying to appease minorities by making statements against BJP and Hindu Munnani by stating that Goondas Act will be invoked to handle the incident of attack on the mosque," he claimed.
He said the Chief Minister, instead of looking into the incident impartially and arresting those responsible for the attack, had issued statements that Hindu Munnani had attacked a local mosque in the wake of the disturbance at the public meeting.
Saminathan wondered how the CM could make such statements without fully ascertaining the facts.
He said a BJP delegation would meet Union Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP National president Amit Shah on August 23 at Delhi and request them to order a detailed enquiry into the disturbance at the public meeting and the 'failure' of police to nab those responsible.

Hindu Munnani said that on August 14, a meeting was in progress when an unidentified person allegedly hurled a bottle from a corner targetting the stage, injuring three persons.
However, after the meeting, some persons allegedly damaged glass panes on the ground and first floors of a nearby mosque, prompting Narayanasamy to order a probe into the incident.
Complaints and counter-complaints had been filed by the Munnani and the mosque authorities.
