A release from the Foundation said that formation of a State level Roundtable today marked the first step in creating a road map for success towards achieving a healthy Puducherry'.
Policy makers, government officials, health care professionals, people with complaints of diabetes, NGOs,health institutes and other stakeholders held detailed discussions at the first meeting of the Round Table the current scenario of diabetes in Puducherry.
The meeting also discussed steps to be taken to reduce the 'critical burden' and to address the issue of diabetes care and its management in the country, the release said.
The programme had been successfully operated in neighbouring Koodapakkam village and also at the PHC in Gorimedu here. This would be expanded to other PHCs, it said.
The Foundation has screened 8,365 people through two mass screening mass camps. Around 130 doctors and 538 pra medical staff were trained on diabetes management to provide quality care to those with diabetic complaints, the release said.
