Chief Electoral officer V Candavelou told reporters here today that the rise in voters strength was due to "continued updation" of the voters list which was finalised now.
Puducherry is going to Assembly polls on May 16.
He said that the number of flying squads has been doubled from 45 now in the whole of Union Territory.
For the first time, one police observer for each of Puducherry and Karaikal regions has been deployed by the Election commission.
He said the Election Commission had also deputed seven general observers for the Union Territory and ten expenditure observers in the context of the polls.
