Puducherry Lt Governor unfurls tri-colour

Lt Governor Virendra Kataria today unfurled the tricolour and inspected a guard of honour presented by the Puducherry Armed police, leading the Union Territory in celebration of the 65th Republic Day.
He presented President's police medals for meritorious services to various police personnel.
Kataria gave away the Chief Minister's Rolling Trophy jointly to 36 schools including a few government schools for scoring cent percent pass in the SSLC public examination in March last year.
In a message released on the occasion, he said Puducherry encouraged establishment of eco-friendly industries units consuming less water and power by entrepreneurs.
He said a sum of Rs 89.39 crores had been earmarked for strengthening the power infrastructures during the fiscal 2013-2014.
Chief Minister N.Rangasamy and his cabinet colleagues, Union Minister of State in PMO V.Narayanasamy, Speaker V Sabapathy, legislators, officials and representatives of various organisations were among those who witnessed the celebrations.
Several departments presented tableaux highlighting various schemes implemented by them in Puducherry. Cultural programme by students of various schools marked the highlight of the celebration which lasted two hours.
