Passengers can purchase a smart card for value of Rs 100 which includes a refundable deposit of Rs 50 and use it to buy unreserved tickets and platform ticket, a release from Southern Railway's Tiruchirapalli Division said today.
The service would save passengers from standing in queues at the stations to get tickets, it said.
The smart card can also be used to purchase monthly season tickets.
