Bringing back the near extinct 'kanta chacchori' and 'postor bara' from grandma's kitchen in traditional households, puja revellers will be served with the 'bonedi barir' cuisine in between pandal hopping this time.
"We have brought from the closet items like 'Sorse bata bhetki', 'Dhone pata kachalonka murghi' 'kochi pathar jhal' - which are still a rage among the guests in Kolkata's household pujas of centuries during the four days but not familiar to the present generation," Chef Sabyasachi Dasmahapatra of 'Mahabhoj' said.
The area being a hub for pandal hoppers dotted with Ekdalia Evergreen, Singhi Park, Ballygunje Cultural, Adi Ballygunje, TRidhara Sammilani, Deshopriyo Park and several other megabudget pujas, the food festival organisers were hoping to take the 'Royal feast' to the 'hoi polloi'.
"It is not everytime that you get to savour the cuisine of Shovabazar rajbari and the 'Chhatubabu Latubabu' in a public place, a spokesman of the cuisine initiative, floated by Park Plaza hotel chain, said.
The new Puja spread on a-la-carte will be available from Mahalaya till Vijaya Dashami.
