Standing to his commitments, Pul today released Rs 43.58 crore for the police department under various heads to upkeep law and order in the state.
The funds were earmarked for purchase of arms and ammunition including sophisticated assault rifles, security upgradation of the capital complex by constructing sentry posts, barracks, boundary walls and purchase of 188 different categories of vehicles, an official release said.
The Chief Minister had been advocating for strengthening of the police force to make it capable to uphold the law and order, while respecting the rights of individuals, it said.
He hoped with the funds and welfare measures of the police being looked after, the components of effective policing like preventive patrol, rapid response, criminal investigation, community policing would see a major boost, the release said.

Pul had called a high level meeting of the police department represented by DGP, Special Secretary Home and AIGP in presence of Principal Secretary Finance and Secretary Finance and while discussing on the modernisation of the entry check gates, approved for installation of a customised technology, which would scan vehicles, register the number plates and also record weights of loaded trucks, it said.
Reiterating his opinion of a complex which would incorporate all necessary check gates like the police, forest, mines and minerals, tax and excise checking, he asked the department to work out its modalities.
The Chief Minister also sanctioned Rs 4 crore for procurement of uniforms for police personnel, the release said adding, Pul directed the DGP to issue advertisements for filling up the 2,022 vacant posts of police personnel.
He also directed that a PCR Van with a patrolling team should regularly patrol the entire stretch from the entry point of Arunachal-Assam boundary to the district headquarters and asked to place a fire tender at Banderdewa PTC.
The Chief Minister directed the Finance department to urgently release Rs 10 lakh each to the DCs and SPs for meeting exigency cases in their respective districts, the release added.
