Pul stresses on adequate infrastructure in edu institutes

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has pitched for adequate infrastructure in educational institutes in the state.
While disclosing his vision for the education system during a meeting with officials of the department here yesterday, Pul said all schools in the state should function as per the standard norms, an official release said.
"Uniformity should be maintained in all education institutions of the state," Pul said.
He said all schools should have sufficient teachers, books and good infrastructure including school buildings, hostels, teacher quarters and washrooms for both boys and girls.
"All school compounds should have proper boundary walls with cattle trapping in the main entrance in order to maintain hygiene and cleanliness," he stressed.
The Chief Minister revealed the government would soon create group D posts and sanitary assistants for schools for proper maintenance and security.

"Essential services like electricity and water supply should be provided 24X7 in all educational institutions and there should be provisions for alternate arrangements for power like DG Sets and even source for solar power, besides provisions for tapping ground water or rain water harvesting in case of failure of normal supply line," he said.
Pul suggested all schools in the state should have laboratory, library with important journals and newspapers and computers with Internet facility, the release said.
There should be co-curricular activities like games and sports and music in all schools, he said while assuring to provide all necessary equipment and teachers.
The Chief Minister proposed to restart vocational training to students with appointment of craft teachers.
Stating that stipends for students would be released
on monthly basis, Pul proposed for enhancement of the stipend from Rs 600 to Rs 1,100 for secondary to higher secondary level.
For higher studies, the stipend would be enhanced to Rs 1,400 per month for technical and non-technical streams with annual book grand of Rs 10,000 for medical students and Rs 1,000 for engineering students, he said.
"Students pursuing ANM course will be given stipend of Rs 1,100 per month with book grant of Rs 1,000 per annum while for GNM students the stipends will be Rs 1,200 and book grant of Rs 2,000 annually and for BSc (Nursing) students, stipend has been fixed at Rs 1,400 stipend with annual book grant of Rs 3,000," he said.
Moreover, incentives for UPSC aspirants would continue with enhanced grant of Rs two lakh for prelims and Rs three lakh for main examinations.
Pul said the government would provide fixed excursion fund for study tours in every college and the students of third year would be given a chance.
Fund would be ascertained as per strength of the class classified under three categories - less populated colleges Rs three lakh, moderately populated (Rs four lakh) and highly populated colleges like Jawaharlal Nehru College and Dera Natung Govt College would be given Rs five lakh.
He also announced earmarking Rs three lakh as 'Excursion Fund' for GNM/ANM schools besides introducing e-learning facilities in the colleges.
After sharing detail vision plan for education sector, Pul directed the department to prepare realistic proposal taking feedback from all districts, sub-divisions, administrative blocks for comprehensive planning and maintenance of uniform standard education system across the state, the release added.
