Pulses remain up on strong demand, low stocks

Firm conditions continued unabated at the wholesale market today with prices of select pulses rising up to Rs 100 per quintal, largely driven by strong demand from stockists as well as retailers.
Traders attributed persistent rise in pulses prices to increased buying by retailers and stockists following beginning of new month amid low stocks in the market.
Prices of urad and its dal such as chilka, dhoya and best quality surged Rs 100 each to finish at Rs 9,700-10,800, Rs 10,800-11,000, Rs 10,900-11,500 and Rs 11,300-11,500 per quintal, respectively.
Similarly, moong bold, chilka local, dhoya local and its best varieties rose Rs 100 each to Rs 7,700-8,200, Rs 8,300-8,600, Rs 8,700-9,000 and Rs 9,100-9,200 per quintal, respectively.
In line with general trend, gram and its dal local and best too advanced by Rs 100 each to end at Rs 4,950-5,700, Rs 5,300-5,500 and Rs 5,400-5,700 per quintal.
