Traders said besides rise in demand from retailers, tight supplies from producing regions mainly led to a rise in pulses prices.
A depreciating rupee against the dollar, making the imports costlier also influenced the sentiments, they said.
In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka local rose sharply by Rs 500 each to Rs 8,300-8700 and Rs 9,100-9,300 per quintal, respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 9,300-9,900 and Rs 9,700-10,000 per quintal.
Moong and its dal chilka local moved up by Rs 200 each to Rs 6,600-7,300 and Rs 7,400-7,900 per quintal. Its dal dhoya local and best quality were up by the same margin to Rs 7,400-7,700 and Rs 8,200-8,300 per quintal.

Masoor small and bold rose by Rs 250 each to Rs 6,800-6,900 and Rs 6,800-7,000 per quintal respectively. Its dal local and best quality were up by Rs 300 each to Rs 7,900-8,000 and Rs 8,000-8,100 per quintal.
In line with overall trend, gram rose by Rs 250 to Rs 4,650-5,300, while its dal local and best quality were up by Rs 300 each to Rs 5,000-5,200 and Rs 5,100-5,400 per quintal respectively. Besign Shaktibhog and Rajdhani quoted higher at Rs 2,100 instead of Rs 2,080 per 35 kg bag respectively.
