Pulses weaken on softer demand at prevailing levels

Prices of urad and other pulses fell up to Rs 300 per quintal at the wholesale market today as demand dried up at prevailing higher levels.
Traders said the fall in select pulses prices was due to fall in demand at current levels against pick-up in supplies from growing regions.
In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka local plunged Rs 300 each to Rs 7,700-8,200 and Rs 8,600-8,800 per quintal, respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya were down by a similar margin to Rs 8,800-9,400 and 9,200-9,500 per quintal, respectively.
Arhar and its dal dara variety followed suit and moved down Rs 300 each to Rs 7,000-7,050 and Rs 8,350-8,650 per quintal, respectively.
Moong and its dal chilka local eased Rs 100 each to Rs 7,600-8,300 and Rs 8,400-8,900 per quintal. Its dal dhoya local and best quality traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 8,400-8,700 and Rs 9,200-9,300 per quintal, respectively.
Masoor small and bold fell Rs 200 each to Rs 6,400-6,600 and Rs 6,400-6,700 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality rose by a similar margin to Rs 7,500-7,600 and Rs 7,600-7,700 per quintal.
