Defending champions Pune FC will take on Prayag United Sports (PUS) while Sporting Clube De Goa will lock horns with United Sikkim FC in the opener of the sixth under-20 I-League to be kicked off here from tomorrow.
Altogether top 15 Under-20 teams of the country including Tata Football Academy (TFA) and Sesa Football Academy, Goa will vie for top honours in next three weeks, Vice-President of Tata Steel (Corporate Services) Sanjiv Paul said.
The meet is organised by Tata Steel in association with Jharkhand Football Association under the aegis of All India Football Federation.
TFA will be taking part in the tournament after a gap of five years after it was elevated to Senior I-league in 2006 but could not take part as it did not meet the criteria set by AIFF.
Paul told the press meet at the JRD Tata Sports complex that the teams have been divided into three groups and each group will consist of five teams.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the final round to play round-robin league for deciding the winners of the tournament.
Referring to TFA's participation in this edition of the I-league, Paul said AIFF has facilitated TFA's participation on condition that the necessary criteria for I-league needed to be fulfilled in a year time.
"We are contemplating to initiate steps to make TFA a football club as per AIFF's requirement.
